Courte biographie
Over the years, Phoenix Sullivan's short stories have been published under her real name in various pro anthologies and magazines. Marion Zimmer Bradley was her first editor. In the corporate world, Phoenix was a professional writer and editor for 23 years. Before that, she was a registered veterinary technician, working with small animal clinics and wildlife rehab centers.

Retired now - and still in her early 50s - Phoenix blogs about writing-related matters at http://phoenixsullivan.blogspot.com.

Her "Confessions of an Animal Junkie" blog features heartwarming stories about running a farm, being a vet tech and learning to engage with the animals around us.

LOVED IT. I love scientific science fiction/medical thrillers (though I'm developing a love of spacey science fic, too) and this book has everything. There's a species-jumping disease, a budding romance in the midst of tragedy, and surprising amount of action. I would definitely recommend this.

The beginning of the book was littered with characters that had nothing to do with the bulk of the story. Once I got past the first quarter of the book, I was definitely locking into the plot and the substance of the book. The author's idea for this book is hauntingly similar to the pandemic affecting us right now. Overall, a very well-written, thought-provoking read.

Decent but disjointed.

I had a hard time reading this story. I cannot deal with the rape in this book. It was not what I thought it was going to be and I should have listened to my intuition and put the book down because it irritated the hell out of me. The only reason I gave this a second star is because the first part of the book was pretty brilliant (only about 10%) and I loved the story of the siege.
