All periods in the club's history have been well researched including the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. There are detailed career profiles of all players, with comprehensive statistics, including the weight and height of each player. Extensive appendices include all match results between 1884 and1996, plus career statistics for every Fitzroy player and career tallies of kicks, marks and handballs for recent players. A detailed but generally descriptive biography of the triple Brownlow and Sandover medallist. Bunton's career is described almost match-by-match from press reports and through the recollections of players, administrators and commentators. There are interesting accounts of the sectarian divided teams in the Albury area, where Bunton played junior football and his coaching and umpiring careers. Bunton's death more than fifty years ago no doubt hampered aspects of this biography, but published recollections from Gordon Coventry, Jack Dyer and Fitzroy Aboriginal player Doug Nicholls perhaps could have been explored.
