Design and Art Direction

I love Taschen books and until now have never been disappointed by one, but unfortunately D&AD50 is not what it could have been. I was expecting a lavish display of the best in design and advertising but what I got was a softcover book with small reproductions that were unreadable even with a magnifier, and printed on poor quality paper. I suspect that many of the originals that were in colour were reproduced here in black and white, and the book was more about congratulating the creators of D&AD on how great they were, than displaying the work of the winners. It could have been so much better if reproductions were at a larger size, there was less white space, and less text - just show us the best designs in the best way possible.
For an organisation that prides itself on excellence in design this was a failure.… (plus d'informations)
