An indispensible resource for Sussex family history researchers. The book is a fully indexed directory of people and the land they owned or occupied in 1785 according to the land tax assessment. Not only useful for locating people and their properties but also for searching for local place names which may never appear in any place-name dictionary of Sussex. For me it was the means by which I located a Sussex property named Drapers mentioned in a 1683 will in Kent and solved the mystery of where that family came from before moving to Kent.
