The story is based mostly on the Tchaikovsky ballet, rather than the original story by E.T.A Hoffmann (neither is credited). However it is true to the "narrative" and the "characters" of the dance. The illustrations are serviceable but not outstanding, and look like they came from a Saturday morning cartoon. The colors are very bright, which is perhaps approriate to the tale. Could be read by a 3rd grader with some help.

An acceptable telling of the Biblical story (with the omission of the visit by the Three Wise Men to Herod's court and its consequences). Quotes the angel directly, but otherwise the language is at a good level.

Tells the story of the famous letter by Virginia O'Hanlon to The New York Sun, in 1897, which was answered by newspaper employee Francis P. Church.
You can decide for yourself if this is an early example of "fake news" -- but sometimes that's what is called for.

(Although the text claims to be exact, there is a [what] interpolated in one sentence to make it more comprehensible to modern readers.)
