Mrs. Effie L. Cunningham

An old and often quoted history of the Disciples of Christ in Indiana. Chapter 15 - Contribution of Indiana Women is written by Mr. Effie L. Cunningham who served the Christian Women's Board of Missions many years. Chapter 18 - Philputt Interprets the Plea is written by Allan B. Philputt.

For the most part, the book ignores the many divisive issues which tormented the Disciples of Christ through the years. An exception is the discussion of the issues the Indiana Christian Missionary Association had with the Americanization Association of Minneapolis, Minn. in 1920 (pp. 297-299).

Many photos of early Indiana church leaders are included. Cauble also extensively quotes Alexander Campbell on his 1850 visit to Indiana in Chapter 7.
