I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Cravings, by Lynn Crandall, is book 2 in the Fierce Hearts series. It is the story of Kennedy, a were-lynx, who was found at a research facility that her adoptive parents placed her in. She ends up in the care of a colony of were-lynxes run by her brother. This book is about how she learns to cope with what her parents did, the fact that they weren't really her parents, and how to find where she truly belongs. She meets Asher, another were lynx in the colony, and the two begin a relationship. Coming into this without having read book 1 made me feel as if I missed a lot. I had a hard time connecting with the action and the characters who seemed to have so much back story in book 1. I was kind of lost for most of the book, but things started to come together towards the end. There was a lot of action, which I enjoyed. I was excited about the idea of this being an interracial romance, but I never really got the impression of the interracial aspect of it. Specifically, I had to keep reminding myself that Kennedy was black. I also really like books about shifters. This book handled that aspect well. I enjoyed the idea of these people living as both animals and humans. I liked the special abilities each were lynx had that benefited the colony. For me, cons would include the dialogue. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review, and although I never read the prior books, I couldn't help but fall in love with Booker and Lara! For years Lara had been molested by her uncle when she was six. She loved her uncle and often they took trips through the forest, but finally at twelve she told her dad but he didn't believe her nor did her mom. Years later Dr. Lara Monroe was part of the Laurelwood were-lynx colony and the colony was there to protect the humans, but then Darren Sage and TNG held the town in its destructive plans to take over the town and put Senator Sage in the White House with their lab created super soldiers!

Doctor Booker Chase had his own problems with PTSD plus is wife murder at the hands of a traitor former colony member and the war in his town had his hands full with patients that were injured during that battle. He and his colony were cats were determined to not only win the next battle but the war itself!
