Even though it's a few decades old, well worth reading, since his diagnosis is unfortunately still accurate and his prescription helpful. I was fascinated by the way he interacted with Kierkegaard in his analysis, which revised my opinion of the gloomy Dane. One drawback: I was not able to access the endnotes via the hyperlinks. This feature seems to work in other Kindle books, so perhaps this is a problem with the coding of the electronic file. [review first posted on Amazon.com]

I think it is a very good book that brings together several voices: that of experience, practical wisdom, and a keen appreciation of the philosophical/theological questions involved.

Top notch commentary on Luke. Fred Craddock is inspired.

Fred Craddock is one of the best preachers of our time. One reason for that is that he is first rate at interpreting biblical texts. So he was a natural for this volume on interpreting the Gospels. It is an excellent study of biblical interpretation, and of the individual Gospels, at least the texts he chose as representative, as well.

This is a dull book. Some of the paragraphs are ghastly long. Just make sure you are good and awake when you crack it open.

One of the best volumes on the subject available. This book set the standard for others.
