Not only is the story about an American movie star falling for his Australian bodyguard, while he's in Australia for the premier of his movie, there are several references to Kevin Costner and THAT Bodyguard!

In Guarded Desires, the bodyguard is Liev Reynolds, and he's described at one point as a combo of Liev Schreiber and Ryan Reynolds.

These throwaways are meant to be self-deprecatingly funny but to me they are a bit cringeworthy.

So I wasn't bowled over by the writing, but nevertheless the lead characters, Liev and Chris, were captivating...how Chris was tempted by proximity to the gorgeous Liev to explore an alternative sexuality. There's a lot of fun in the novel around this. And kissing. The novel reveres the kiss. BTW, Liev, not a common name, is perfect for this man.

It's great to hear Guy Masters' Australian voice. I wonder why the producers chose to use an Australian voice? - it had the effect of placing Liev at the centre of the novel. Unexpected, but an excellent decision.

I found no other books narrated by Masters anywhere unfortunately. Or any mention of him as an Australian actor, or in any other capacity - a mystery man.

m/m erotic sport romance, the sports are for the men's physique. This was entertaining and better written than the few other erotic romances I've read. If you want this sort of story, the writer knows her craft, hence all the stars.

2 Stars

You can tell this is an old one of Ms. Carr's.
I just couldn't get into it.
Very slow moving. Even at 36% I still haven't come to anything 'Adult'.

This reads more like a young adult or new adult romance.
I've tried numerous times to get into it. It is not for me.
So I am counting it done.

Short little erotic read. Nothing much to the story just a woman in love with three guys containing scenes with each of them. No plot or characterization to speak of, really just a brief episode.

This review is for Nobody’s Hero , author Laura Trentham’s entry in Rescued : A Collection of Contemporary Romances with Heart, Heat and Dog Treats.

Nobody’s Hero is just what you would expect from talented author Laura Trentham: an intriguing plot populated with sweet, sexy characters (whether they realize it or not) that you can’t help but love, a story that draws you in and makes you feel warm and comfy. And add in a dog? It’s a winner.

Clayton is a good guy. Not just a good guy, a capable, considerate, romantic, and oh-so-handsome-it-makes-you-swoon good guy, who has a big soft spot for stray dogs. Some bad choices and bad breaks have him on the fringe of Cottonbloom’s accepted society, trying to ease the suspicion so many have of him. His soft spot suddenly extends to women who are beautiful but shy, introverted, and repeatedly undervalue themselves with self-doubt. Namely Maggie. Turns out Maggie has had a secret thing for Clayton for a while now. Also turns out that Maggie has another secret – she’s a successful romance author. She doesn’t really want either of those secrets to get out, but when she and Clayton come together to care for that stray dog, sparks fly, secrets and feelings are revealed, and we’re well on our way to that HEA we love so much.

Author Trentham packs a lot into this novella. The characters are well-drawn and have depth, and the plot moves along at a brisk, fun pace, filled with humor, sweetness and heat. Trentham’s stories always make you feel warm and satisfied and Nobody’s Hero is no exception. Thanks to the author for an advance copy in exchange for my reading pleasure and honest review. I loved it and look forward to reading the rest of the stories in what promises to be a delightful collection of dog tales. All opinions are my own.

Pretty standard contemporary romance. Stubborn (adult) daughter of a rich family runs away from them to her online friend in the interior of Australia - except it's his twin she comes across. Lots of lust overwhelming common sense, rather explicit sex scenes - but also some rather good characterization and interesting relationships (the romance, but also between the brothers, with their mother, with the woman's father, etc). Not bad, not great.

[Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.]

Jeremy Craig has had a successful career in politics and things look like they could only get better. He has inside knowledge that he is likely to soon be named deputy prime minister of Australia. But first he has to conduct a visit to the Outback, and it's one that should be very routine. Enter Ryan Taylor, helicopter pilot and Jeremy's chauffeur on his excursion. The connection between the two of them happens in a flash, even though Jeremy knows he can't act on it because of his political career and Ryan is sure his passenger must be straight. But a small helicopter makes for close quarters, and things can't simply be ignored for long.

I'll start by saying that while this is the third book in a series, it definitely can be read as a stand-alone. I've not read the two (they're m/f, not m/m) that come before this one and I had no problems at all with following anything in the story.

This is a bit of a fun and almost whimsical (at whimsical as anything with a political aspect can be) romance that is short, intense, and engaging. Things move quickly, but it doesn't necessarily feel overly rushed. And as far as out-for-you/coming out stories go, it's surprisingly light on the angst. This is my first experience with this author, but I hope to have more going forward.

Ms. Couper pulled a fast one. I went into this story knowing that I was going to dislike James and I came out even more intrigued by him. That are various layers to both James and Sienna that are hard to endure but kept me enraptured all the same. What neither understands is there is no black and white when it comes to the heart. That gray area almost always wins. The Stubborn Billionaire is a complex story that begins with revenge and ends with love.

The Irredeemable Billionaire (The Muse Series) by Lexxie Couper
The most precious gift is the one that is hard to obtain. It's been a long, winding road, but Sebastian finally got the message.  Lexxie Couper continues to surprise me by expanding her range and getting in tune with the emotional side of love, not just the physical.  The Irredeemable Billionaire is not a story of loss.  It's is a message of healing. A journey of hope and a pathway to second chances.  Grace and Seb had to travel separate paths to get them to their happily ever after, but life experience and lessons learned gave them a valuable treasure. Happiness.

A case of curiosity starts with deceit and turns into a complication. The Mistaken Billionaire is up for interpretation. Mila is a woman who had it all, until the tide changed and left her with regrets. Thomas is the man who derailed her promising career. Now brought together by chance, Mila has to decide if she's willing let go of the hurt or continue to harbor the resentment. Ms. Couper set to creating a story that is tough to navigate, but hard to walk away from. Is this a story of revenge or of a second chance? Only a reader will know.

Enemies who have never met? A muse with a secret? The Mistaken Billionaire is the story of an author with writers block and a woman whose life he ruined years ago.

Thomas St. Clair skyrocketed to literary fame early in his life. Mila wanted to be a reporter for the New York Times more than anything. Writing an article about St. Clair was going to be her ticket. Except, he never met with her, gave her any info, or participated in the interview in any way. So, she became and investigator and found the info to write a less than flattering article. After its publication, Thomas threatened to sue NYT if they didn't fire her. Mila is now a teacher and while she is passionate about what she does, she does still harbor a lot of resentment towards Thomas. Their chance meeting sets off a chain of events that neither can seem to stop!

Thomas falls in love at first sight with Mila. Her presence cures his writers block, and as he gets to know her, he is genuinely captivated by her. She challenges him and she can hold her own with his massive ego. He knows she is 'the one' but is willing to do anything just to keep her around him, including paying her for her time. Mila is desperate for money to help her students, and deep down, she still wants revenge on Thomas. As they get to know each other more, Mila is slowly being crushed by the weight of the secret she kept from Thomas because she has feelings for him.

I enjoyed the story and thought it was a nice balance between witty and light hearted. It is predictable for sure, but in a story like this, I don't think that is necessary tragic. I found Thomas a bit narcissistic (okay, a lot narcissistic) which made me struggle to really like him. I actually sided with Mila a great deal and while she didn't tell him her secret right away, I didn't find that to be a HORRIBLE character flaw or anything. He was really horrible to her when he torched her career because she hurt his feelings. Nothing she wrote in the article was slanderous or libidenous so she didn't break the law, only hurt his feelings. So, I struggled with Thomas for a lot of the book. He is charming for sure, and that is probably what save him in my book.

If you like a bit of enemies to lovers, artist/muse, and secret identity tropes, The Mistaken Billionaire will be right up your literary alley!

Grace Ford Wilder is a single mother, widow, and paramedic. She’s been living the glamorous life of a single mother and is exhausted trying to keep up with it all. When her best friend thinks to help her out by getting her son a big brother, she’s floored when he shows up on her door step. Anyone but Hart. He made her life miserable when they were kids. Not that she didn’t give it right back to him, but he’s a self-absorbed pig and a billionaire film director. There’s no way he could have improved. She doesn’t have time for his celebrity ways. She has a life and the hero worship her son has for him only spells disaster for her son … and her. Sebastian has similar habits of the past, but he isn’t the same person and now her heart is on the line, leaving her nowhere after he tires of her and moves on. And he will move on because he doesn’t want to settle down and Grace isn’t the red-carpet premiere, rub shoulders with celebrities type of person. She doesn’t belong in that world; his world.

Sebastian Hart can’t believe his eyes. Ford is standing in front of him and she’s not that dorky young teen anymore. He used to tease her mercilessly and she used to retaliate with a kick to the shins after delivering a scathing retort. He’s missed the saucy little brat more than he realized, but she isn’t the same. She looks exhausted, haunted, almost beaten … and it’s tearing him up. Suddenly his court order to be a big brother becomes something altogether different. But Ford won’t be easy to bring around. She knows the old him and proving to her that he’s changed is going to be the hardest thing he’s ever done. And maybe, just maybe, all that teasing and ill-treatment in the past was him trying to hide from something he should have known all along; someone who was in front of him the whole time. He’s just got to keep from screwing things up. Easy, right?

I really enjoyed this book. This story takes place in Australia and so there is a lot of Australian swang used. I laughed at a lot of it because it reminded me of my friends in Roxburgh Park. It was a nice touch for me. I also liked that Sebastian wasn’t the typical billionaire movie star. He is a director and so he is in the spotlight, but not quite as much. He has a bit more wiggle room from the paparazzi, but not much. Sebastian is interesting to follow because he believes he is a different person, but eventually sees that he hasn’t changed all that much. His epiphany is a catalyst in which he has to decide whether to give it his all, or throw the towel in and return to his selfish lifestyle. Grace is completely torn because she sees the person Hart was and the person he can be, but she struggles with what is best for her son, and her own personal desires she wants to succumb to. Ultimately, Sebastian missed Grace’s brutal honesty – something he doesn’t get with people always rushing to do his bidding. The question ends up being whether Sebastian wants to change, or if he just wants her to challenge him while he continues with his egotistical behaviors. He’s somewhat of a conundrum because he’s definitely a self-centered person, but he also behaves completely opposite when doing the nicest things for both Grace and Cody.

The character list within this book was short. Grace’s best friend, co-worker, Sebastian’s brother, and the jerk-face paparazzo was pretty much it for supporting characters with a purpose. I appreciated that both Shelly and Harrison knew the end game all along despite both Grace and Sebastian fully denying things for a long time. There were other characters involved, but they didn’t live up to their possible full potential. I was a little irritated with the introduction of Grace’s mother-in-law because she really didn’t serve much of a purpose at all. Ultimately nothing was ever resolved with her, so I question her appearance other than to add a little drama and Grace making a decision for her life, which could have been handled any number of other way. Also, we got a small glimpse into Cody’s school project, but never much else. I had been hoping we’d see more of that – or Cody and Sebastian presenting it with Grace unsuspecting – something like that. Oh! I almost forgot about plain-faced Justin! Haha! I had a bit of an issue with his character as well because again, no resolve. I kept getting the feeling there was more to him, like he was going to end up being evil and Seb would have to swoop in and save the day or something, but he just sort of dropped out. So I guess, in reflection, this book did have a few technicalities that could have been better addressed. Besides those, it is still a pretty good read with well-developed main characters. I read it quickly and was satisfied with the story from the romance aspect. And despite the deficiencies with a couple of the secondary characters, I still very much liked Hart and Ford and was pleased to spend time with them. I plan to visit Ms. Couper’s books again in the future.

Frankie Winchester, grew up the only child of the country’s most successful record producer and a outlandish publicist mother. This meant Frankie had zero boundaries and way to much money. She had been a spoiled privileged kid in school.

Alec Harris was from a poor family who's father instilled in him that hard work never killed anyone, and it’s not a disgrace to be poor. Even after his family won the lottery they still didnt send him to the fanciest school.

Frankie (The Gun as Alex used to call her) and Alec (Alley Cat as Frankie called him in school) were always in competitions in school growing up and Alec always won. She always looked down on him because he was from a poorer school and he was always besting her in every competition. Secretly though these two always liked the other but there social standings always prevented them from acting on there feelings.

Ten years later they run into each other at a party. Frankie runs away but Alec catches up with her and they play a game of Suck and Blow which leads to a scorching kiss.

Even though this is a short ebook you still get total backgrounds on Alec and Frankie and dont feel like you are missing anything.

This was a great, hot read and looking forward to the next one in the series Truth or Dare.

"3 out of 5 stars, this is a really cute and spicy novel! It’s about two people from opposite ends of the world meeting online who, after a while of talking/skyping each other, decide to meet in person. Nevertheless, while they talk about seeing each other they get their wires crossed and end up both finding out that they traveled to the others hometown ... and get their lives turned upside down. Annabel (Annie) finds herself quickly falling into lust with Dylan's twin brother Hunter while she spends two weeks on their station (ranch) in Australia .... maybe their feelings will turn into something more during their time together."

You know the term 'hump like bunnies'. Expect a lot of humping to go on in Love's Rhythm". This was sexy, sex-filled and sexed story of a kindergarten teacher, Lauren and her old flame, rock star Nick. They haven't seen each other for fifteen years over a stupid reason. But during all those years, Lauren's kept a secret...hmm I wonder what kind of secret it could be? I'll give you one guess. I liked the story a lot and Nick and Lauren do make up for the time missed. Trust me. ;)

I liked Nick was artistic and poetic and just in love. I believe his feelings and Lauren's as well. I don't have any faults with their actions or reactions. I though the ending was a little cutesy but other than that it is a solid story. I will read more for this author in the future."

A fun angst filled, well developed story. The attraction between Noah and Pepper was quick and filled with fire & heat. Our Heroine Pepper is a shy woman with a beautiful voice and poor self esteem; due to her mother’s constant put downs as she was growing up. Pepper was exposed to the music scene as a child, through her father’s work with Rolling Stone magazine; from afar she had always idolized the band Blackthrone, and secretly liked the drummer Noah Holden. A chance meeting one day at work, and a band in need of a singer puts Pepper and Noah on a collision path.

I found both Noah and Pepper’s character’s to be well written, believable and likeable. I enjoyed the supporting characters especially Pepper’s roommate Frank, and the rest of the band. Noah was a contradiction to the usual rock star persona, in that he was honest, caring, loyal, wasn’t arrogant, egotistical, shied away from the groupies, and didn’t flaunt his fame. Pepper stayed true to her character, remaining the shy, scared of large crowds, good at what she did, smart and sexy. I was happy that the author didn’t have Pepper’s character quickly overcome her issues and become a famous singer, I was happy with her future with the band.

The book was of medium length, didn’t have too many story threads, was an easy read, and had no cliff hanger. I did find some typos in the books but they did not take away from the story. The sex was hot, tasteful and supportive of the story line.

For me a 4 star read just because I enjoyed the story

As with any collection like this, the stories in Banged are a bit of a mixed bag. Standouts include:

Three Nights with a Rock Star - compelling characters and mysterious pasts made this story more than just sex. Definitely interested in reading more in this world.

Dirty - I loved how much backstory this snippet gave, completely whetting my appetite for more. I cannot wait to delve deeper into the Horus group and discover all their secrets.

Less successful would include The Rock Star's Secret Baby, which just did not grab my attention. I didn't feel interested in this adventure story at all.

Readers looking for new series' to fall in love with will definitely find it here. A fun and HOT compilation.

Not bad, although it all came across a bit unbelievable, a bit over the top - especially the Australian 'sauce' was a bit heavy. Maybe especially done for US readers? All in all, it was an enjoyable read, but nothing special.

Jorja is the latest book in the Secret Confessions: Sydney Housewives series and the first for 2015. What a way to bring in the New Year! In this story, we focus on the younger character of Jorja (I think she’s in her mid-twenties) and the life she leads with partner Mud. Mud is a star rugby player and dedicated athlete. He trains almost constantly and is known for his aggression on the field. Sometimes, his desire for Jorja and aggression mix (but not in a bad way). When we meet Jorja, she’s about to lose another pair of sunglasses (Mud throws them over the balcony of their apartment in throes of passion). Mud worries that one day he’ll go too far and accidently hurt Jorja. He’s so big and she’s so delicate. The sex is always full of passion and occasionally rough. One day, Jorja strains some muscles and poor Mud thinks it’s his entire fault. Desperate, he calls someone in who he knows can help Jorja – but can he relinquish his alpha status?

I initially thought this story would be all rough and tumble, but it surprised me and didn’t go in the direction I thought. Things turn incredibly tender towards the end as Mud realises his depth of feelings for Jorja. Jorja in turn, discovers that Mud won’t be going anywhere. It’s a read that starts out sexy, turns into a scorching and settles with a warm, sweet tone. I also enjoyed the inclusion of Meagan, a chef and the protagonist for the next book in the series. Mud is a character much more complex that I’d initially thought (okay, I’d labelled him based on the fact he’s a rugby player and I’m an Aussie Rules footy fan) – the backstory and his actions revealed him to not match any of the stereotypes I’d had in mind. Jorja too is more than a WAG (wives and girlfriend) – she has fears and concerns beyond her sunglasses!

This is a wonderful short, sexy read for a summer’s night- I’m loving this series!

Thank you to Escape Publishing for the eARC. My review is honest.

If you are looking for a sci-fi romance with a lot of syrupy sweet love making and a hero and heroine that drip with lovey-dovey platitudes then this book might not be the one for you. If you are like me however, and enjoy a sexual romp with a very vocal and demanding heroine and not one but three versions of her dream man fulfilling her in every way possible and giving her a new outlook on her staid and restrictive life…. then jump in and take a flight with Anika Dru, Allied Planet Enforcer as she takes in some much needed R & R and in the process saves the universe.

Anika didn’t want the forced vacation but had plans to make it work for her…. or rather making it a working vacation. She was a super cop. She could take down a few scum-bucket criminals while enjoying the time on ‘Port Adana. It doesn’t take very long for Anika to find someone to go after when a very dangerous Q-42 battle droid crosses her path, but before she can make it two steps another tempting distraction makes her head spin. A sexy slave catches her eye and makes more than one part of her body liquify. Something in his blatant stare makes her follow him. She can take care of her needs with the sexy man, free him from his master (because she hated slave owners) and when they are done then she could continue on and capture the droid…a great vacation day after all.

Kaden, a Phase, has other plans for the sexy enforcer. The Phase govern the dimensional and temporal tapestry and his very hard task was to keep Anika from following the droid and causing a rift that would tear the dimensions apart. What better way than to distract her with a very enthusiastic and inventive sexual tryst? Kaden’s secret power however, having a doppelganger in each dimension, adds to the play as not one but two of his twins are brought in to help in her seduction. Anika can’t help but succumb to their artful ministrations and believe in their connection to her in the other dimensions. It also lets her lie back and enjoy her R & R vacation on ‘Port Adana in the hands of all three versions of the perfect man.

Wow…wow…wow… Lexxie Couper sure knows how to turn up the heat and keep the entire book on boil. It must be something in the water down under causing her to create such erotic fantasies. Scorching hawt and sizzling with erotic heat this torrid escape will surely have you dreaming of taking some R & R yourself and finding the perfect man (men) yourself.

I have read similar books so some things seemed to be a bit predictable (if I would have read this book first I would not feel this way). This one didn't quit go as I thought it was going to go when Lauren's secret was revealed. There is a lot of Hot sex scenes in this book and you don't have to wait to long for it to happen! There are lots of history that made me think the sparks were going to take awhile to catch fire. The ending was really really sweet made me get all teary eyed.

I am an idiot I tell ya! I didn't realize until the very end of the book that Aslin worked for Nick Blackthorn from Love's Rhythm. I will tell you they are stand alone books so you will get a tiny morsel about Nick's life after Love's rhythm it's nothing to jump for joy over.

Lots of action is this book. First just trying to figure out how in the world Aslin and Rowan could possibly fall in love with their controlled stubborn ways is a lot to wrap your head around. Luckily we get to read how their walls crumble. There love story moves fast but it's believable with their backgrounds and who they are. Lots of hot steamy raunchy sex. Ending was Fantastic!!!
