This series is some of the finest television we have ever seen, and that is saying something, because we have both seen a lot. It is also one of the most difficult to describe. If there is some kind of scale, the extreme end of which is an awkward workplace comedy like the American "The Office" and the other end is a brutal and grounded spy thriller like "Homeland", "Patriot" is somehow smack in the middle, and it makes it work.
