Snaring the Trumpet is a fun, easy middle-grade read about finding your passion and discovering your talents. Amy Cobb provides readers with an introduction to the various school band instruments without sounding like a textbook. And Anna Cattish's anime-esque illustrations enhance the story.

Note: I received a library-bound copy of this book from the publisher.

Libby is so excited that the county fair is coming to her town. She wants to enter something but she does not have anything. She goes searching for the perfect thing to enter into the fair contest. This is a great beginner reader for children that like animals and farm life. The storyline is easy to read and can be a read aloud as well. I would recommend this for any collection.

Libby is inspired after attending the school’s pet show to teach her goat Elvis some tricks. She cannot get him to catch a Frisbee, fold socks, or speak French. All he wants to do is eat the Frisbee and socks. She soon realizes that he is great at making friends and maybe he is destined for other things besides doing tricks. Libby realizes he would make a great therapy goat instead. I would recommend this for any collection looking for books for young readers who like animals.
