A great book. I am a big fan of sportsmanship, and this book talks about sportsmanship in relation to the nature of sport, the Principles of sportsmanship = respect for opponents, teammates & team, officials, the Game, between players & coaches. They also talk a bit about sport, society & education. I would read it again, and have quoted it quite a bit.

A brilliant book that lambastes intellectual bigotry and serves as an apologia for what the author calls "rootedness," an attachment to place. A necessary book for anyone, like myself, who listens to country music, believes in God, and hold conservative principles that must encounter the vagaries of life in the liberal arts.
