My book entitled 'Body Mechanics of Tai Chi Chuan' deals with the human body under the action of given forces and is based on practical physics such as body leverage and the hydraulic pressures which exist in our body. The principles of body mechanics which are found in tai chi chuan are universal to all human beings. These principles promote good health and animate one's daily activities. There is no doubt that they help martial artists attain their goal of speed and maximum power. Therefore, tai chi chuan has been one of the best Chinese martial arts as well as a means of achieving physical fitness for centures. Over the past 30 years, my emphasis has always been on the realist applications of tai chi chuan. In fact, the concept of body mechanics is the result of my life long devotion. Some people may think I am against the 'supernatural' elements of tai chi chuan. I would rather say that I am very happy and satisfied with its practical aspects. It is a pleasure for me to endorse this manual on t'ai-chi ch'uan by the eminent teacher, William Chen. The book is important in several respects. First, it describes correct yang style t'ai-chi ch'uan, done relaxedly and with panache-as only William can do it. Second, it illustrates a short sixty-posture version of the original, shorn of many repetitions, which can be done in five to seven minutes. Later, edition is known as Body Mechanics of Tai Chi Chuan. Contents Acknowledgements Foreword by Robert W.
