The Children of Lir par Ann Carroll
This is a very strange and sad Irish story about four children who lose their sainted mother and have to endure the curse of an evil stepmother, who turns them into--well, look at the cover! I don't find the ending that much solace. Unfortunately, all the illustrations, though they are nice, are black and white.
