As one interested in the subject, I was moved along in such a way that I didn't want to put it down until I had finished (though I was a little wearied by the litany of "bad books" in the concluding chapter). After establishing the context in chapter one, the authors present and examine the various reports and stories of the Battle of Pease River over four additional chapters. In chapter six they "explain the myths" -- what is false and revealing what they believe constitutes the core of truth surrounding the Battle of Pease River and accidental rescue of Cynthia Ann Parker."

This will appeal to an extremely limited number of readers, but for those who are interested in the history of sheep herding in the United States, its great. I also love maps, so I liked it. I bought it to inform thinking I was doing about the possibility of a connection between the historical rise of raising sheep as an economic farming/ranching mainstay and the rise of MS cases in the United States and Western Europe.
