Anne Cakebread is an award winning illustrator and painter based in St Dogmaels, West Wales, UK. She has produced artwork for TV programmes and National TV advertisements, National magazines, newspapers and book publishers in addition to rebranding and consulting. She is the creator and illustrator of the best selling 'Teach Your Dog/Cat' language books, available from Y Lolfa. Anne works in a variety of styles to suit the organisation she works for.

My brother was in the UK recently and he picked up “Teach Your Cat Welsh” as a joke gift for me. This small book consists of short phrases in Welsh, their meanings and how each word is pronounced on the odd pages and drawings of cats (or parts thereof) on the facing page. For instance, “it’s snowing” is “Mae’n bwrw eira,” pronounced “Mine boo-roo ey-ra,” an appropriate phrase for where I live (in Montreal), and the facing page shows a cartoon cat’s head, face looking up and mouth open to catch some snowflakes.
