I Don't Know Why…I Guess I'm Shy: A Story About… par Barbara S. Cain M.S.W.
Sammy is a shy boy and won't speak to anyone because of his anxiety, but when he's more anxious about finding his dog he forgets to be scared about speaking. Estimated ages: 3-8
This book is great for shy kids to get out of their comfort zone. The book talks about the different emotions Sammy is feeling when he can't spit words out and he's not sure why. The story ends positively and Sammy is no longer shy. Ages 3-6 Pierce County Library
Throughout the story Sammy was faced with having to talk to people other than his mom, he was very shy and didn't want to make himself feel dumb if her said the wrong thing, or someone might be upset with him, so he would just rather not talk at all. When he lost his dog sparky, he began asking everyone he could if they knew where her was. He didn't even realize that he wasn't feeling shy, he was so focused on finding his friend. When he did find him, her realized that he wasn't shy anymore, he had talked to so many people, and non of them had responded the way he thought they would, so it make him more comfortable.

Sammie has a hard time conversing with people. He does not like answering questions and feels uncomfortable talking to people. When sammie looses his dog, he has to overcome this fear and talk to people.
