A small album of the author's own photographs of trams taken on his travels. One could take issue with the scope of his book, as there are more German-speaking countries than just Germany, Austria and Switzerland; but in 1977, the author would not have had easy access to the former German-speaking parts of Poland, with its extensive system in Wroclaw (Breslau) and other cities; Luxembourg's tram system was still forty years in the future (and who would have thought that statement possible in 1977!); the same could be said of Mulhouse (opened 2006) and Strasbourg (closed 1960, re-opened 2009) in German-speaking Alsace; and the South Tyrol's systems in Bolzano (closed 1948) and Merano (closed 1956) wouldn't be on his personal map either. Namibia, though qualifying for inclusion, misses out due to its lack of trams, either in Windhoek or anywhere else.
