Fascinating look at the state of the art in data visualization circa 1939. What's old is new again, Sankey charts which started showing up all over /r/dataisbeautiful in the last year or so were being made with IBM cosmographs 80 years ago. There are examples of maps that look like they came straight out of Nathan Yau. A definite love of chart junk and heavy grids that would make Tufte weep. The writing and organization of the book is as if Brinton channeled the fastidiousness of late Elmer Fudd and the frenetic energy of early Daffy Duck. If you've dug up Playfair and Cleveland, might as well at least flip through this, there're worthwhile exhibits throughout.
