It would be a lot easier to teach about the shapes without that rowdy moose...but then we'd miss out on lessons about friendship.

Cute book for children who are currently and previously learned the alphabet. It can be used for seeing if a class knows their alphabet.

The kiddos LOVE this book. They find it so humorous! What I like about it is its early learning capabilities. It really is perfect for teaching the Alphabet.

Sure, kids find this book funny. But it combines an exposure of the capitalist precarity of labor with anxiety about the arbitrariness of semiotic identities. The solution is solidarity. The revolutionary pages for N, O, P, and Q are the best part of the story.

2010 Caudill Award Nominee. Really good book about a girl who is an artist who is attacked by a shark. She lives but her right arm is amputated. It is written in journal/free-verse poetry style that is very effective. It is about grieving, living, managing and accepting. The only part I would criticize, of course, is that Physical Therapy gets all the credit! But she explores new careers and is really interested in Occupational Therapy. Good read.

This book, about a zebra showing the alphabet, is a great way to get young kids engaged and interested about the alphabet.

While I felt sorry for Jane for the challenges she had to face after an encounter with a shark, I never emotionally connected with her. The storyline was slow and rather bland although I did enjoy how the book was written in various formats including poems, letters and phone conversations. "Shark Girl" was a quick read but not an inspirational one.

Nice. But I happen to know Zelinsky can do better.

This book does a wonderful job creating a humorous space for students to find the silliness of the characters going through the alphabet out of order. It's a great book to introduce to kids as many of them begin to be comfortable with the alphabet. Additionally, it highlights the value of going out of order and engaging with letters, writing, and reading in a fun lighthearted manner.

This is a cute book, sure to get a laugh out of kids. The interrupting moose who appears throughout the pages is wonderfully illustrated and hilarious. Moose wanders through the pages, alphabetically, and gets it's feelings hurt when 'M' is for "mouse" and not "moose". In the end, the referee-narrator Zebra gives his letter 'z' to Moose so that Moose can be involved in the book.

This is a funny alphabet book in which the moose for M is on the wrong page and is a little eager for her turn. She then get really upset when the alphabet people go with mouse instead of moose, but they find a way to make it all okay in the end. Unique illustrations in which the characters come outside of the page.

Moose just really wants to be included in the alphabet.

I was really entertained by this book, the illustrations and dialog were great. If I had to use this book to teach my kids a lesson it would be that even if you hurt someone's feelings you always have a chance to mend the fence. "Be the bigger person" is the message I took away from this book.

This moose is determined to get into this alphabet book. He keeps trying to pop in before his turn, and is then horrified when M finally comes around, the narrator Zebra uses Mouse instead. He doesn't give up, and the book ends with the Moose taking the letter Z.

This would be a wonderful read-aloud for lifting the mood. I think all the kids would be giggling as the moose turns up in the wrong spots.

The book seems like a traditional alphabet book but then you realize that it is not! The Moose always feels left out about not being involved. Even when the Zebra gets to the letter "M", the zebra chooses to use the word mouse instead of moose. The moose finally is included in the alphabet when the Zebra says that "Z is for Moose".

I love this book and would definitely have it apart of my classroom library. It is such a unique idea and it is so cute. I can see why children would love this book. The illustrations are so wonderful and the story line is so unique. This book could also be very interactive in a classroom setting.

This book is HILARIOUS!!! i was laughing out loud. It goes through the alphabet with the moose trying to butt in and wanting to be represented for M for Moose but the zebra was the referee and trying to control the moose because the moose was messing up the other letters. by the end the zebra was being a good friend and let him be in the z for zebra.

summary: In this alphabet book, Moose is trying to introduce himself in the book before the letter M is introduced. When the letter M comes, it is not for Moose.
reflection: This book made me giggle because I was so curious as to how Moose would jump into a page and try to introduce himself. I think that students would get a kick out of this book, it's really funny.

Summary: Z is for Moose by Kelly Bingham is about a moose that just wants to be included in the alphabet.

Personal summary: This book has fun humor that a lot of children would love to read. I think this book would be perfect for elementary to middle school aged kids. This would be perfect for alphabet teaching or even just for fun. Would recommend.

Moose wreaks havoc on Zebra's carefully thought out plans. You either think moose is an adorable goof or a super jerk who ruins everything, throws a violent and destructive fit and then manipulates the animal screwed over by this bad behavior into apologizing for being victimized.

Is this an allegory for domestic violence?

Reading "Z is for Moose" is like watching a skillful kindergarten teacher quell an overwrought kindergartener for the benefit of all.

Zebra, the coach who is orchestrating this alphabet show, remains calm as Moose anxiously awaits his appearance & is shortly undone by being upstaged by unprepossessing Mouse. Moose throws a tantrum, obliterating Owl and Queen, and Zebra has to protect the later players from Moose's temper. Finally, though, Zebra, good friend and mollifier, saves the alphabet.

This title was very well-received by the Primaries I tested it on. Pair it with Lester's very funny "A is for Salad" for readaloud alphahysterics.

This is about a moose that is too excited to be in this ABCs book. After making a mess of things throughout all of the pages, he becomes incredibly sad because he didn't get to be on the M page. He becomes super sad, and the zebra director helps him cheer up by letting him be in a page as the moose.

This hillarious version of the classic ABC book has a comic twist as Moose keeps trying to get into the book. Kindergarteners will be howling with laughter with this silly book that pokes fun at the usual format.
