The books has a rough start, where the author tries to present the problem he's dealing with (how to account for acquaintance wth singular items in a holistic framework) mainly through metaphors that are stretched till they snap. The book gets better toward the middle and the end though when the many facts and aspects of the relations between holism and singularity are tidied up with a view to a transcendental deduction that concludes the investigation by establishing a reciprocity between acquaintance with singular items and the "multiplicity of thought", conceived as the freedom that thought has within a holistic outlook.… (plus d'informations)
