Sophie Behr (1935–2015)

Sophie Behr was born Sophie Elisabeth von Behr Negendanck in Neubrandenburg, Germany. She graduated from the Ostsee-Gymnasium Timmendorfer Strand. She became a journalist and author and worked for Der Spiegel for 16 years, serving as chief correspondent for Munich and later also for Berlin. She also wrote for the magazine Emma and for ​​radio. A single mother herself, she was a co-founder of the German Association of Single Mothers and Fathers. Her books included Ich erziehe allein: Problemlösungen und Ermunterungen für die Erziehung ohne Partner (I Train Alone: Troubleshooting and Encouragement for Education without a Partner, 1980), the novel Ida & Laura: Once More with Feeling (1997), and Barhof (2007).
