Cricket Baker

Some people on other review sites have liked this book but I am not one of them. On the surface it is the story of a boy and his friends searching for the spirit of his younger sister who has been murdered. The alternative world the author paints is a confused mishmash of ghosts, Christianity, supernatural beings and spiritualism. The plot is like a hamster wheel in which I was asking myself "Didn't they do or say that about ten pages ago?" There is no sense of setting - just phrases like a steep ledge, a deep hole or foggy and hazy. The book is filled with hundreds of one and two word sentences that added next to nothing. _ I see her. I stiffen. Bad. etc. (Not quoting the book) but this is how it went. This is a book that attempts to be spooky, atmospheric and profound but is too muddled to pull it off.… (plus d'informations)
