I am actually sympathetic towards Mr. Bain as the title means unless he gored their particular ox, some will not be completely satisfied.
Somewhere out there is a reader who will wonder; "Why didn't he cover the Chu X-PO?"
Mr. Bain obviously made this a labor of love. The bibliography is magnificent in both depth and breadth.
Let me repeat that, The bibliography is magnificent in both depth and breadth. There was a tremendous amount of time spent just finding the reference material.
His writing is not technical but entertaining. So, even though I didn't get a chapter on the P-66 or the Miles M.20, this is a fun read and does offer a different contemporary view of WWII aircraft.
Highly recommended as a light recreational aviation read. This is a great "hammock/beach book" for the days you want a good entertaining read and don't care about determining the instantaneous rate of roll or the Wf.
I will be looking for future books by Mr. Bain.… (plus d'informations)
