Jan Arriens has written a book of stories that speak of Quakers living faithfully from the 17th century to the present day - finding practical ways to defeat slavery, protesting against nuclear weapons, discovering individual journeys to peace, simplicity, truth and equality

Dramatized retelling of historical incidents as well as entirely fictional stories that dramatize historical Quaker concerns. "Next time someone asks me 'Who are the Quakers?' or 'What do Quakers believe?' I think I'll just give them this book (Steve Whiting)." From the back cover.

This book which allows an alternative glimpse into the lives of the men and women on death row in the United States is truly compelling and shocking. The stereotypical view of these people being monsters living in the lap of luxury at the expense of tax payers is quickly pulled back to reveal a lot more about the prison system and those it houses. Well written and will definitely challenge your thinking and beliefs about the topic.
