Of you read one killer bunny story this year, make this the one. To be fair, the bunnies are genetic hybrids with a taste for meat. The setting is a staid English village and an estate dominated by an ancient stone tower known as The Folly, a name having a double meaning. The victims are local villagers. A bloody little story from the 60s should give you a good cringe.

A rabies epidemic traces back to a couple who selfishly smuggles a dog into Britain. A failing marriage is the backdrop for this story of willful negligence at its worst, resulting in the deaths of children and adults alike. The horrors of the progression of the disease are starkly painted, and the ending hints at far worse to come.
