Kathryn Hansen's ideas have an intuitive appeal: she views bulimia as a habit, cemented by repetition, rather than an expression of some "deeper" issue that therapy would work to solve while ignoring the binge eating behaviors that define bulimia in the first place. Hansen writes that we binge because of urges to binge - not because we have mommy issues or because we're lonely or whatnot. This book is completely different from other self-help books you'll find in the eating disorder section of the bookstore because it focuses on the physiological aspect of bulimia. I'm hoping I can apply some of Hansen's techniques to my own life! ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
"Brain over Binge is different than other eating disorder books, which typically present binge eating and purging as symptoms of complex emotional and psychological problems. Kathryn Hansen, the author of Brain over Binge, disputes this mainstream idea and explains why traditional eating disorder therapy failed her and fails many. Kathryn explains how she came to understand her bulimia in a new way- as a function of her brain, and how she used the power of her own brain to recover - quickly and permanently. Sound theories and research support the ideas in this brave and refreshing new book, which holds promise for helping many who struggle with any form of binge eating."--Author's website, http://www.brainoverbinge.com.
