I was influenced by Tolkien, Moorcock and Gemmell. They remain some of my favourite authors. More recently I like Brent Weeks and Ian Irvine.

My favourite fantasy battle scene has to be in Legend. It's a defensive battle but an epic.

I'm self published which I think brings different challenges. You need to undertake a wide range of tasks other authors don't have to, such as your own marketing, book design, web design, editor etc. Of course you can call on friends to help :)

Went fighting today. Not sure we won. It's re-enactment, Saxon versus Viking. It's competitive fighting so it can be quite brutal
