There are a couple of second hand bookshops on Kensington Gardens. Brighton Books is fairly pricey, although it's well organised and covers most subjects. I've found a quite a few bargains in Oxfam, which is a few doors up. There's also a discount place nestled between the two. It's marvellous for literary criticism, biography and philosophy. I hope that helps.

Colin Page on Duke Street is pretty good. There's usually bargain books outside (weather permitting), and a good selection inside.
