Hi!

I'm a PhD candidate in Composition Studies at the U of New Hampshire. Currently (as of the end of 2006) working on my dissertation proposal. I'm constructing a small-scale study to describe student attitudes toward "multicultural" texts in the comp classroom. I'm teaching at a predominantly white institution, and I'm hoping to get at ways to effectively engage raced topics with students who are often inclined to avoid such conversations.

That's the goal, anyway.

'siyo!

I'm an almost Phd candidate (working on my concentration exam right now) in Rhetoric & Writing at Michigan State University, with a concentration in Cultural Rhetorics.

Cool to have this group here!

Hi! I'm a comp-rhet dissertator at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. While working on this PhD in comp-rhet, I completed (just this summer!!) a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies. My dissertation looks at writing by librarians in professional journals during the early 20th century. I'm focusing on the ways they wrote about programs aimed at immigrants and/or Americanization. A little politics, a little gender, and a whole lot of libraries and writing. I'm also very interested in the ways we approach writing from research.

I'm an M.A. student at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. I'm actually more interested in history of the book, but I love my comp-rhet classes that I've had to take for my M.A.

Hi again-

I'm glad that there are folks out there interested in signing on for this group. Please invite anyone else you know who might be interested. Anyone can send an invite-- from the group's main page (I think.)

What's your last name?

I'm Marc C. Santos, currently (not) finishing my prospectus at Purdue University. I'm attempting to articulate a rhetoric for web2.0 that focuses more on Levinas, ethics, and delivery than Plato, epistemology, and invention.

I'm glad I've found another toy to play with once I del.icio.us my way to the end of the internet.

I'm Greg. Am merely a dude. However, the group looks fascinating.

Thanks for having me. Marc C., have you read The Hypercomplex Society?

Hi!

I'm finishing up (2007-2008) my M. A. in Composition, Rhetoric, and Literacy at the University of Oklahoma. My research focus seems to be heading in the direction of New Media rhetoric.

I'm planning to apply to Ohio state for my Ph D. My eventual goal is to find a very small liberal arts college somewhere that will let me focus on teaching.

Happy New Year. I'm a professor at the U. of Puget Sound & teach the first-year seminar in writing & rhetoric regularly. I taught an historical survey of rhetoric once (filling in for someone), and I've published a few books in the comp.rhet and creative-writing pedagogy fields, several with the late Wendy Bishop. I hope '08 treats you well. Hans
