I've enjoyed this 888 challenge alot -- 4 books left for me (phew) -- I didn't know if anyone had heard of a new challenge for 09 in the works.

I enjoyed the 888 challenge, but I won't quite finish it, so I'm not sure about the 999. I'm thinking about a 7-8-9 challenge. 7 books in 8 categories in 2009. Anyone interested?

I'm nowhere close to finishing the 888, but I'm doing the 999 anyway.... I figure it doesn't hurt to try.

The 999 challenge might be doable if you follow the rules (which I'm *not*). Anyway, the rules state that you can use the same book for more than one cetegory.
I'm doing 9 books in 9 categories in 9 years. I'm working on my 888 challenge and my 999 simultaneously now! :D
I think the fun is in the whole group doing it together, even if the details in how each person does it differs. There are no prizes, and it's certainly not a competition. It's merely a personal challenge.

#3: That sounds slightly more doable, even though I'm still going to do the 999 Challenge (not by Sept. 9 though!).
#4: I'm in the exact boat, Zoe. I didn't stay with my categories, but, numerically, I reached 64+ books, so I kind of look at that as a plus. Good luck with finishing your 888 (the year's not over yet!) and starting your 999. :)
Btw, there's a Paranormal 999 Challenge ( http://www.librarything.com/groups/paranormal999challen ), for those who're into that genre. I plan on doing that as my 999 challenge. Does anyone know if there are other branches of the 999 Challenge?

#3 - Hopeglidden, I would have much preferred to do the 7-8-9 challenge next year, but I was already all set up and committed to the 9-9-9. There is no way I'm doing a 10-10-10 in 2010, so come up with a more reasonable idea, and I'll join you in a year.

I also like the idea of the 7-8-9 challenge. I might make it a sub-challenge to 999. I probably cannot finish 81 books in a year with out overlaps, but I could aim for 56 and fill in the rest with overlaps.
