Hi!
For those of you who don't already know, you must see the last Whedon thing, it's awesome.

I've been trying to watch all day but I keep getting a busy signal :-( Must be popular. Good for Joss!

A pleasure PhoenixTerran ;)

Please, read the Master Plan. I've done it and am trying to spread the word as much as I can. Support Joss!

I loved the first two acts -- who knew that Patrick Harris could sing? Great stuff. But what the heck happened with Act III? I stayed up until midnight to catch it the minute it was available, and then . . .SPOILER. . .

the chick dies? What was with that? And the ending just seemed so incomplete to me.

My family and I have been Whedon fans forever, but I sure as heck hope he finishes up with an Act IV, at the very least.

Or. . .he can just bring back Firefly. If only. . .sigh.

BTW, on a purely aesthetic note, I preferred Fillion when he was less bulked up.

>7 RachelfromSarasota: I'm with you Rachel - I was so disappointed with Act III. Really not up to Joss's usual standards, it seems to me, and well, just pretty lame as an ending. The first two acts are hilarious though...

You're right, avisannschild, the first two acts were terrific, and I even liked the music! That's probably why I was so disappointed with Act III. I've heard a rumor that there will be a "new" Whedon TV series this winter. I can hardly wait. The man is brilliant, no question -- but he owes it to his fans to "fix" Dr. Horrible.

I'm absolutely in agreement; Joss is brilliant and I've loved everything he's done (especially Firefly). I love the fact that he writes such amazing female characters (again, especially in Firefly!), which is why I was so bummed by the lame ending to Dr. Horrible... (SPOILER ALERT) What's up with killing off the female character and then just leaving it at that?

You must be thinking of Dollhouse (starring Eliza Dushku), which is set to air in January.

(SPOILER) Joss has a way of making you laugh and sing uncontrollably and then abruptly pulling the rug out from under you. Watching pt. 3, I'm still shocked every time it gets to the part where Penny dies, even though I've watched it now probably 20+ times. It's strangely satisfying though, watching the creation of a villain and I can't imagine the story going another way: everyone had their part to play and, at a certain point, there was no turning back (but whose fault was it?). I don't think we'll ever see Billy-Buddy again.

I agree with jmjackson. It was very Whedonesque, you are enjoying yourself and suddenly he takes all that from you (remember Serenity?) At first I was a bit disappointed but now I cannot think of another possible ending.

Yes, yes, yes -- you're all right -- it was a typical Whedon touch, as my daughter keeps reminding me. But I still hated the too abrupt ending -- and I am STILL upset about what Whedon did to Preacher's character and Alan Tudyk. SPOILER ALERT:

How could he possibly kill off Alan?! AARGH!

I thought the ending was perfect. A villain needs something to turn him into the cold-hearted guy who will do anything (anyone see The Dark Knight this weekend?), and for Dr. Horrible, it was Penny.

Watch for the DVD. Apparently one of the commentary tracks will be in musical form.

>7 RachelfromSarasota:

Neil Patrick Harris can definitely sing, he was the lead in RENT on Broadway for awhile!

I must watch too much Whedon, because that didn't shock me at all. But you know, after what he did in Serenity, I suppose I'm prepared for anything. :-P

I have to agree with shrew. I didn't get a shock; it seemed to follow the conventional storyline for a villian with the twist of Dr. Horrible having a heart (and Captain Hammer as the jerk).

I find it greatly amusing that currently 13% of Amazon users that view these ultimately purchase the Dr. Horrible DVD.

#19 Or, have they seen Dr. Horrible already, go view the googly things, then purchase the DVD? Hmmmm?

I'm one of those who can't see any other ending to Dr. Horrible being as right as the one that is. Sad and shocking makes a great heart-moving story.
