How to add book that's in Library Thing's catalog, but doesn't show up when I do the add book search?

There are several copies of the book on Library Thing already, probably entered manually by other users. I just want to add it to my catalog. When I click add, it takes me to the Add Books page but it can't find any copies from any of the sources I've tried.

Why can't I just add it from the data that someone else has clearly already entered??

If it matters, the book is "Minimalist Tiki".

Minimalist Tiki

Yes, it looks like all the entries are manual, so there is a good chance you will also have to add it manually. Worldcat does not have any record of it. LT is not a source.

I'll just point out that there are 4 different editions. 2 have the same ISBN, one with subtitle, the other without, one has no ISBN, the fourth has an ISBN only one digit different from the first two, so both cannot be correct. Regardless of what other information may have been entered, which of these four editions would you want copied, and how should the computer decide?

>2 MarthaJeanne: Sigh... Ok, I'll just accept that LT doesn't have the functionality I want. I was hoping that I could simply copy the book info from one of the users who already has the book in their catalog. It seems silly that 7 people have the book in their catalog and the last 6 couldn't just copy it from an existing record.

Ideally, I could go to a specific user's catalog and add it from there. For example : https://www.librarything.com/catalog/mdstillman?&deepsearch=tiki and click on the green plus symbol by the last book in that list ("Minimalist Tiki") it would just add it to my catalog. Or at least give me the option to do that.

As you say, LT isn't a source, which is a little strange to me, since it has a huge number of records for books that don't actually exist anywhere else. I hope they consider adding that functionality in the future:

"No books found. Would you like to search LT and add the book info to your catalog from an existing copy in LT?"

Thanks for responding!

If you find a record you like, you can open two tabs and copy paste the information. That is the closest you are going to get.

LT not being a source is a deliberate decision, not just that they never programmed it.
