LibraryThing is great! I’d love for there to an option to filter each columns. Fx to only see books read, or bought in a specific year.
I often use LibraryThing to figure out what book to read next, ao I’d like to be able to filter the column “reading date” to only include books I haven’t read yet. Or I’d like to filter to see how many books I’ve read this year.

>1 SilleLarsen: Not sure about reading dates, as I don't use them. But if you put all the books you've read into a collection called "Read," you can pull up the unread books with the search "collections:-read". (I typically keep this search open in a browser tab and consult it for exactly the purpose you're describing: deciding what to read next.)

>1 SilleLarsen: many people use tags to be able to filter in that way.
Or create separate collections for that option.
You can also go to Charts and Graphs -> Cataloging and select "Read in" to the year in question and find the various characters, series, etc to get a catalog listing.

Yeah, I just use a year date as a tag (2023) or a month/year tag. I don't use read in as part of it because I know what it means.

But there are two other ways to count books read. (though perhaps not books unread)
One way is to add them to a list which keeps automatic counts. Another is to import a ticker and you manually adjust the ticker each time you conclude a book.

>1 SilleLarsen: You can see how many books you've read or bought this year (or any year) by going to the charts and graphs page and filtering by either of those things. You can also go to the new "year in review" page at the bottom of charts and graphs to see both, though that currently only works for 2023.
The best way to see what you haven't read yet is to include those books in the "to read" collection (one of the default collections). Then you can filter any search to show only the books in that collection.
Personally I also use a "read in {year}" collection so I can quickly see what I've read during the current year.

Also, the info on the charts page comes from your date read entry. Without that it won't show up there.

Right. You have to have actively entered reading dates. I've only finally been induced to do so by the new year-end reporting. Since 2009, I've just been entering reviews when I finish books, and treating the review date as the reading date.
