Trans guy who plays goalie on a soccer team

Hi I am looking for a young adult book about a transgender guy who is in high school and plays soccer. He lives with his mum. At the beginning of the book, his best friend convinces him to become goalie for the school soccer team (that is initially losing badly to other schools). When he is standing in the goal he imagines the face of the girl he has a crush on in the back of the goal and he must stop the ball to stop her getting hit. He is naturally good at soccer and he joins the team, winning the game for his school. He is scouted and gets an offer to go away somewhere (I think it good was a soccer team or a boarding school). But he doesn't want to go, as he tells his mum about because of his anxiety and having to use public bathrooms.
There are several times when he hangs out with his grandad too. they often play chess.
He is given some award at school, which he uses to come out to his grade I think the words they used were 'he used to be dead name but he's now new name (I think it may be carl).
He goes to the park everyday to watch the girl who he likes and eventually builds up the courage to kiss her. However, she says she only did it because she wanted to be 'trendy' and asks if it makes her a lesbian.
His mum reveals that she wants him to go on the trip and she will talk to them about letting him use non public restrooms.
The book ends with him going to see his teacher about a short story he is writing for English. It is revealed that the story up to this point is a story he is writing and that actually his grandpa and family are not supportive of him being trans and that the story is how he wishes his life could be like.
