Fine Press Poe

A belated Halloween thread :)
Edgar Allan Poe has been a favorite of fine press for many years! A few that immediately come to mind are of course the 1912 Dulac edition, the 1919 Clarke edition, and the wonderful 1935 Rackham edition. The most recent addition to this long legacy is the Thornwillow Press edition which I thought was also beautiful. That said, I would like to share one of the most beautiful adaptations I have ever seen, this is the arguably somewhat obscure 1969 edition of Mask of the Red Death by Aquarius Press. The highlight of this work has to be the gorgeous lithographs by Federico Castellón

The volume is huge! some 15 x 11 inches. Among other amenities, it also retains the original title of the work which is The Mask of the Red Death: A Fantasy. Enjoy!

Thanks for posting! I’ve been looking for a copy in Fine or NF condition at a price point in my budget for a long time. Definitely on my want list.

>2 opto4: well worth finding! I hope you manage to snag one soon :)

>3 What_What: I really like the No Reply Press, although I was not so keen on their edition of Red Death. They reprinted the Clarke illustrations with red ink which is cool in principle, although the final product was a bit off-putting to me. I was also not a fan of the paste paper cover for their regular edition. That said, the cover for the "de luxe" edition was stunning!

Thanks for sharing. That looks great. One of my favorite LEC publications is The Fall of the House of Usher.

Don't forget the Cheloniidae Press The Black Cat.
