Just picked up TDB, supposed to be sexy, serious and satirical. Looks interesting. Anyone read it yet?
No spoilers, please! ;-)

If this is the two-volume work by Paul Moore, it ought to be good, at the price asked on Amazon!

No mention of PM, it's by anonymous, the famous author, one volume paperback, almost 350 pages, though.
The blurb compares it to Candy, high praise. The paperback was relatively cheap.

I'm interested in any info on the author.

The Devil's Advocate was also a novel by Marcus Van Heller(John Stevenson), although at 350 pages, it's way too long to be that one.

>4 lennynero: Given that, this probably doesn't belong here, but in searching for details on The Devil's Advocate, I came across "The Ragged-Trousered Pornographers" at the Telegraph online, a nice piece on Olympia Press, containing an interview with Van Heller.

"The Devil's Brand first complete and unexpurgated edition of The Devil's Advocate an erotic classic"

Excellent intro by Stanley Whelan says it was part of a series paid for by a millionaire attributed by
Gershon Legman, Kinsey's bibliographer, to "a talented young american, exceptionally gifted at pastiche, named R. S., who is also the author of The Oxford Professor".
