Any suggestions for some Minnesota authors to read this summer? I finally read War for the Oaks by Emma Bull and really enjoyed it. I also read Candy Girl by Diablo Cody and am always looking for more local memoirs.

A friend lent me a book a while ago that I haven't had time to get to yet, but he claims is excellent -- Peace like a river by Leif Enger.
Another suggestion for the same friend that I loved was Until they bring the street cars back by Stanley Gordon West. West is from Montana from what I could find, but the book is set in St. Paul during the 1950's.
For great poetry, check out Coming back to the body by Joyce Sutphen.

I loved Peace Like A River! Highly recommended. If you like teen fiction, I suggest Godless by Pete Hautman. I read it and thought it was excellent.
