Help!

The public library's summer reading challenge has you reading a book from 6 regions of the world - North America, South America, Europe, Asia/Middle East, Australia/New Zealand and Africa. I tallied up my books sitting on the TBR shelves and I have loads from North America and Europe, some from Asia, but none from Australia, South America or Africa. Ouch. I requested some library books on Phar Lap to fulfill the Aussie section and one about the history of South African horses. Does anyone have any suggestions for a book about animals that takes place in or has an author from South America, Central America or the Caribbean? Mexico counts as North America, so I can't use the book about the Agua Caliente track. Or how about a suggestion for an book about horses in Africa that won't be quite so dry?

This in my inventory on BookMooch is by an Australian author:
Errol Broome, Away With the Birds
Also set in Australia:
David Metzenthen, Danger wave
Also set in Australia, has horse.
Betty Roland Jamie's Other Grandmother
All children's fiction... not sure if that's what you're after.

Would any of the Black Stallion or Island Stallion books that take place out of the country count for you?
