A propos de ma bibliothèque
I try not to own books, other than woodworking texts, because I got a bit carried away with collecting a few years ago, and realised that I couldn't continue like that. So I browse libraries (sadly less so now that I've moved away from Canberra) and pluck volumes more-or-less at random, generally based on their vicinity to other books that I like — I trust in the classification systems!
A propos de moi
In the stillness of a large library, seated alone towards the end of one of the big wooden tables, I hold a book before me. My notepad off to the side, it's pen resting — my body is also at rest, unmoving, breathing but in every other way, still. In this stillness and quiet, this peaceful organised calm, I sit: reading. Do I read for the books' content? Or are the contents just the focal point: do I read to be made more fully aware of the whole Universe?
