Phillip was born and raised in West Jefferson in the mountains of North Carolina, a little more than a stone’s throw away from the Virginia and Tennessee lines. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then later was awarded a law degree from Campbell University, where he served as editor in chief of the law review. As an attorney, he handles litigation matters with the law firm Horack Talley in uptown Charlotte. When he’s not billing time, he studies language, collects rare books, plays a few musical instruments, and reads everything he can get his hands on. He is married and has a daughter, Ashley, and two sons, Henry and William. THE BARROWFIELDS is his first novel.
