I’m an author and cartoonist with four books published over the years:
MAXINE, a graphic novel; New American Library 1987
LAUGHING GAS, a collection of my MAXINE comic strips; Republic of Texas Press 2002
THE SHINIEST JEWEL, a graphic memoir; Hachette 2008
FINDING THE LIGHT, a graphic memoir; Andrews McMeel 2024
- A propos de moi
From 1981 until 2002 I wrote and drew a weekly coming strip called MAXINE (not to be confused with the old lady cartoon character by the same name; my character actually came first and is a young smarta** feminist). My cartoons have appeared in Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle, Funny Times, LA Weekly, Dallas Morning News, Austin Chronicle, and other publications great and small.
I’m a vegetarian yogini who loves to read, write, and draw, preferably with a cat in my lap and a dog by my side. My husband and son are the twin lights of my life.
