- A propos de ma bibliothèque
- I have pretty varied taste, but mostly I read fiction. I love books that take me away to a different place or a different time. So a lot of books with a historical background, even if they're not "historical novels."
I like books that take me "home," with the cadence and rhythms of the south.
I love a good mystery.
I really like reading children's books at the end of the day to wind me down before I go to sleep.
I also have a secret weakness for cheesy romance novels, but only if they're not too apallingly written. Partly I started doing the LibraryThing thing to keep track of the authors I enjoyed, so I can find them again during the next semester break when I need some brain junkfood.
But I did feel the need to put some "real" books on here as well. :) - A propos de moi
- I'm a grad student in Classics at a large midwestern university, so I don't have a lot of time to read stuff for fun. But when there's a break in the semester, I binge-read for days on end.
One of my favorite passages in all of literature is the opening of Robert Penn Warren's All the King's Men as it describes the tires hissing on the pavement on a road that goes on forever. The heat and the sun and the flash of the yellow line. There's something about it that's so immediate and so real. - Page d'accueil
