I am a retired United Methodist pastor, retiring in 2010 after 47 years of ministry. Almost all of my library, more than 1500 books, was kept in my office at the church I served. As I approached retirement, I gave away more than 300 books. The rest I stored in my garage until I found a place for them in the house. Three months after I retired lightning struck the garage. We lost our vehicles, three generations of wood working tools, a dozen or so paintings and sculptures given to me by parishioners, and the remnant of my library, almost 1200 books. My current library contains those few books that were in my home office, and some books I have picked up since retirement. I now live in a cottage with limited space for books, so the majority of new purchases are in Kindle.
