A propos de ma bibliothèque

The Treasure Cay Community Library is a 100% volunteer operated library serving the community of Treasure Cay on the island of Abaco in the Bahamas. Our primary membership is comprised of second homeowners from the United States, Canada and England, and we offer a summer literacy camp for the native children. First opened in 1974, we acquire our titles primarily through donations from our members. Our holdings include lots of current fiction, non-fiction (especially in the adventure, political and war areas), biographies, classics and an extensive juvenile and young adult section, as well as a unique collection of local historical writings. We also offer puzzles and games for borrowing. Following the devastation of Hurricane Dorian in 2019, we were closed for 3 years until volunteers restored the building and collection. We are now the only library open to the public on the entire island of Abaco.

A propos de moi

I took over after Hurricane Dorian as the head librarian. I organized volunteers and worked to restore the building and our collection. I have vacationed in Treasure Cay for over 50 years and the library was always one of my favorite places on the island.
