A propos de ma bibliothèque: Although I own 35,000+ books crammed into several buildings, my real library consists of the fiction and nonfiction that I've created over the past four decades. I believe that good stories have identifiable beginnings, middles, and ends, and that the protagonist should reach the end of the journey by learning something new and worthwhile about him- or herself--and others. If I'm not having fun while writing a tale, chances are pretty good that no one else will either, so I try to add a leavening of humor and pathos and occasional "really-weird-stuff" to keep things moving. I write the things that I would like to read.
A propos de moi: I've penned 120+ books--and, I hope, have a few more still left in me for the future. I've edited over 1,500 volumes (I'm currently editing the Borgo Press imprint of Wildside Press), and have penned more than 13,000 short pieces. My wife, Mary Burgess, is my first reader and editor, and I've learned to listen to what she has to say about my prose.
