- A propos de moi
- Following a stint in the Coast Guard and a degree in philosophy, Richard W. Wise became an Alinsky-style Lead Organizer running organizing projects in Providence, Rhode Island and New Bedford, Massachusetts. He put together a successful anti-redlining campaign in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston.
After retiring from the burnout business of community organizing, he apprenticed as a goldsmith then opened a gallery, obtained his degree as a Graduate Gemologist and became an international gem dealer and journalist, making regular trips to Burma, Thailand, India, Brazil, Colombia and East Africa. He also earned a 4th Degree black belt in Uechi Ryu Karate.
Wise is the author of three books: His latest, Redlined, is a mystery/thriller based on his community organizing experiences in Boston. His first book, Secrets Of The Gem Trade, The Connoisseur’s Guide to Precious Gemstone (2003). His second book, The French Blue (2010), is a historical adventure novel set in 17th Century India.
In 2012 Wise quit retail to pursue writing full time. He lives in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virgina with his wife and two cats. - Lieu (géographique)
