- A propos de ma bibliothèque
- The only commonality in this collection is me. I have a variety of interests, and usually construct reading lists the way detectives pursue a case - something in a current book or article I'm reading captures my interest, and I'm off to get a new book about a new twist in the case. Sometimes the relationships are obvious; sometimes they're not (I once started a book on interior design and ended up researching psychology).
Alas, all my books aren't listed here, but I'm working on that as time allows. I try to avoid Scrooge-syndrome when it comes to my book hoard - I must spend more time enjoying the books than tallying them up.
My profile picture is of some shelves in the White House library; a marvelous collection, and a little something to aspire to. - A propos de moi
- I would begin by saying that I have a problem when it comes to collecting, obtaining, or hoarding books. But that's like an alcoholic confessing in an AA meeting - we're all suffering from the same disease here at Librarything. My mother tells me I used to curl up with books in my crib the same way most tots do with stuffed animals. Apparently, I was always doomed.
Books provide comfort, knowledge, and the comforting knowledge that there is always more to know. I don't know where I'd be without mine (conceivably, with a smaller bill from the bookcase section of IKEA). After recently leaving a grueling, but rewarding, four year job, I'm now back to paying more attention to my old paper friends, and making some new ones. I hope you enjoy my collection as much as I enjoy having it. - Adhésions
