Robert has been traveling a lot lately, but he comes home for a while in hopes that he can get the information he needs to make his fortune. In South America there is a mine that holds undreamed-of wealth, but because of the death of the original owner and an ensuing earthquake, no one has been able to find the location. Until Robert did. Problem is, the mine's current owners seem to be shrouded in mystery, and he can't find them in order to negotiate.
The name of the mine is "The Veiled Mariposa." (Mariposa means butterfly.) Robert is startled to see that this season's fashion is for ladies to wear incredibly gorgeous jeweled butterflies as brooches and necklaces. The coincidence strikes him. Then he hears about a fortune-teller (a fake) who is also called "The Veiled Mariposa." Throw into the mix his love interest, a woman who has far and away the finest set of jeweled butterflies and is reported to be completely penniless but still manages to have the best everything, and the stage is set for revelation.
Nothing about it is really that difficult to figure out.
