Geometry is one of the types of math that everyone uses in their everyday life. We see spheres, cylinders and cube shapes in many of the things we buy and use each day. We measure surface area and perimeter and have to visualize flips, turns and slides when moving or buying furniture. This book is useful for students to see and apply the practical side of math in their everyday life.

This is just one of the titles in the Mastering Word problems series. It is a great book for teaching kids how to solve word problems step by step. This edition focuses on using Decimals and Percentages. Some of the areas discussed are problem-solving tips, tools to help you solve problems, decimal statistics as well as problems with percents. I would recommend this for anyone wanting a brief description of decimals and percentages.… (plus d'informations)

This 64-page book provides easy-to-understand, step-by-step techniques for breaking down and solving word problems and basic algebra equations. Some of the techniques include: making a list, table or graph; drawing diagrams; and working backwards. Wish I'd had this in junior high!

Besides making us want to eat brownies, pizza, mango smoothies, and jelly beans, this short and simple book provided easy word problem practice, as the cover states, "starring fractions." The author effectively breaks down the steps of tackling any word problem, but these all featured adding and subtracting fractions (including mixed fractions). For my 6th grader, it was a breeze and boosted his confidence.
